Low-Cost Broadband Electronic Coupler for Estimation of Radiated Emission of Integrated Circuits in TEM Cell

Transverse electromagnetic (TEM) cell is a well-known method for the qualification of radiated emission from integrated circuits (ICs). Combined with 180° hybrid coupler, it provides simple quantifying (RE). However, typical transformer or coupled line based couplers have limited bandwidth which cannot cover full frequency range required by IC tests (150 kHz to 1 GHz). This article presents design and validation low-cost broadband electronic version coupler dedicated estimation radiation TEM measurements. The proposed prototype able large (from dc GHz) sufficient sensitivity dynamic RE in cell. cost presented very reasonable as entirely on commercial operational amplifiers.
